Pimenta dioica (L.) Merr.

Fam. Myrtaceae
The name pimento derives from the French piment, Provençal pimen, from the Latin pīgmentum "pigment", "color", passed in late age to indicate spices.
In English it is also called allspice, because it seems to combine cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
Due to the name pepper carnation, with which it is known above all in Europe, it can be confused with clove.
